I can’t believe it’s been four years since we said good-bye to Mom. Steve brought home this beautiful bouquet for the remembering. After a light sketch of the vase, I tried just painting the flowers by looking at them and painting with one go-through. In other words, when I painted the sunflowers I loaded on the yellow paint, painted what I saw, and then wouldn’t allow myself to go back over them or add details. It was a good exercise, as the temptation is always to keep “messing with it.” Actually, I think what I like best is the “splotch” of color by the quote. I just loaded on some of the colors from the bouquet and “let them do their thing.” Or, I guess what I REALLY like best is the quote. It’s SO Mom. Miss you Mom.
