I always look for this little trio of carolers when I’m rooting through the boxes of Christmas decorations. They’re one of my favorites and quite vintage. They belonged to Steve’s grandparents and are made out of humble pipe cleaners and bits of fabric. It’s funny, for some reason I just always assumed they were singing “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” When I was lettering out the words, that second line hit me in a fresh way. I’ve sung it a million times, but I don’t think I’ve ever really given it much thought – “Let Nothing You Dismay..” It’s such a great line and of course, only works because of the context it’s set in. They seem to have taken it to heart. They’re faded, bent and frayed – but “undismayed” and still singing!
