I’ve always loved this poignant quote from CS Lewis’ “Voyage of the Dawn Treader”.  My heart has been so heavy over the last number of weeks with some excruciatingly hard circumstances some friends are going through.  And so I found myself painting this illustration.  In the story, a giant albatross has just circled the mast of the ship (The Dawn Treader) which has been totally lost and disoriented in darkness.   And then the bird begins leading them to a tiny patch of light.  Lewis writes, “No one except Lucy knew that as it circled the mast it had whispered to her ‘Courage Dear Heart.’ ”  I don’t know if you can see the wing, but it’s there, as well as the narrated words.

Wow, no big revelation here, but life some times can be so so hard.  I guess this piece is kind of like a painted prayer…
