This past week I had the amazing privilege of attending a Mary Whyte workshop in Carmel with two good friends.  Mary is a world class watercolor portrait painter and studying under her was such a joy.  Not only did she teach technique and composition, but she also emphasized the importance of creating pieces that appealed to the senses – and paintings that had a reason behind them.  During the three days, we painted one still life and two models.  This is a painting of Ryan, a beautiful young model who posed for us.  I’m still riding high from the experience….
